The Mustang Mach-E has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Recon doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the Mustang Mach-E and Recon have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Mustang Mach-E has Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Recon’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Mustang Mach-E and the Recon have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E (built after August 2024) has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2025 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The Recon has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2025.

There are over 19 percent more Ford dealers than there are Jeep dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Mustang Mach-E’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Jeep With 67 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Ford higher than Jeep.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ford 13 places higher in reliability than Jeep.

The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance/Rally’s standard electric motors produces 80 lbs.-ft. more torque (700 vs. 620) than the Recon’s electric motors.

The Mustang Mach-E’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Recon’s standard 70 series tires. The Mustang Mach-E GT’s tires have a lower 45 series profile than the Recon’s 70 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Mustang Mach-E has standard 19-inch wheels. Only 18-inch wheels are available on the Recon. The Mustang Mach-E GT has standard 20-inch wheels.

The Mustang Mach-E offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Recon’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Mustang Mach-E Select/Premium’s wheelbase is 4.6 inches longer than on the Recon (117.5 inches vs. 112.9 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Mustang Mach-E’s turning circle is 2.4 feet tighter than the Recon’s (38.1 feet vs. 40.5 feet).

The Ford Mustang Mach-E may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1150 to 1700 pounds less than the Jeep Recon.

The Mustang Mach-E Select/Premium is 7.7 inches shorter than the Recon, making the Mustang Mach-E easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Mustang Mach-E is 9.9 inches shorter in height than the Recon, making the Mustang Mach-E much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The front grille of the Mustang Mach-E uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Recon doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Mustang Mach-E has 1.9 inches more front legroom and .2 inches more front hip room than the Recon.

The front step up height for the Mustang Mach-E is 4.1 inches lower than the Recon (18.3” vs. 22.4”). The Mustang Mach-E’s rear step up height is 3.4 inches lower than the Recon’s (19” vs. 22.4”).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Mustang Mach-E easier. The Mustang Mach-E’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 30.6 inches, while the Recon’s liftover is 35.1 inches.

The Mustang Mach-E’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The Recon’s swing out door blocks loading from the driver’s side.

The Mustang Mach-E has a higher standard payload capacity than the Recon (980 vs. 850 lbs.).

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Mustang Mach-E’s exterior PIN entry system. The Recon doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its Uconnect Access can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

Both the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Jeep Recon offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The Mustang Mach-E offers optional power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the Recon’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

The Mustang Mach-E is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Recon doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
